2021 Monthly Color Challenge – September
What is this year long plan?
The 2021 Monthly Color Challenge is in it’s fourth year, and I am excited to join in. This year we’re getting our inspiration from Fruits and Veggies.
Each month there is a change in colour and a new block. You can see all the colours to come this year at this post on Jen’s blog. Jen also shares all the info on what you need and you can choose to sign up to receive the block sent straight to your inbox.
My block for September
Here’s my block for September, the colour for this month is Soft Yellow, for Pineapple.
Pineapples are so sweet when you get them at the right time. We have been enjoying more fresh pineapple the last few years rather than the tinned version. Tinned is OK for pizza topping but fresh is best in a fruit salad or on it’s own
I have planned a consistent background of the dark charcoal grey and will be adding the feature colour color. There are a plethora of scraps in my studio so I have vowed to sew from them if I possibly can. However this month I did need to cut into some yardage, as this colour doesn’t feature much in my regular fabric choices.
I have been trying to add in the fruit or veg in the pics with the blocks and had none available and cut slices would be very messy anyway.
So, if you are keen to sew along with us this year, there’s a layout design for you at the end of the year, head over to Jen’s blog and join in. The blocks are free for the release month, and you can have them sent to your inbox.
Oh and each block comes with a How To video right in the instructions. That’s pretty handy.
My Tip to you.
Don’t like wasting those corners? Sew a half inch from your sewing line and cut between them to makes use of those cut off corners. You do need to collect quite few of these to make another project but if you hate wastage then you’ll probably already do this!
Recipe fun…
Oh, fresh pineapple in fruit salad, can’t go wrong there. No recipe needed, just cut up your favourite fruits and mix together, enjoy with ice cream or just on it’s own.
Want to join in? It’s not too late.
