Christmas in July

Designing Women Style!

Do you love making the gifts you give at Christmas? I do, and so to help you with some gift choices, my lovely Designing Women friends and I are sharing some quick and easy patterns that you can make as gifts.

Get ready for Christmas early by setting aside some time regularly to make a batch of these patterns. They are mostly fast and easy items to create and you can use what you have in your sewing area. Leftovers and scraps can be used, which makes these gifts very economical.

Log Cabin Mug Rug

Our fun and fast pattern for Christmas in July is the Log Cabin Mug Rug.

This quick and easy pattern is ideal for using scraps and bits left over from other projects. I am working through my scraps in colour groups to make a whole heap of these. The first picture is the originals and are beautifully coordinated. The next 2 are the ones from my scrap baskets. Plus I could use my quilty mugs for pictures.

For the Christmas In July event, we have reduced the Log Cabin Mug Rug pattern by 40%. So from 25th July to 25th August 2025 you can purchase this pattern for $2.25 AUD. Have fun enjoy, and We’d love to see your scrappy or coordinated mug rugs.

More Christmas creative fun!

I am so excited to make some of the patterns my friends have shared, both large and small projects. I am sharing pics and the link to their websites where you can buy or download the pattern.

Recipe fun as well

Oh and look for a recipe of our favourite Christmas recipes, something that we traditionally have with our families during the festive season.

We’re each sharing a favourite dessert that is a family tradition during Christmas.

Pavlova

Oh the crunch of crispy meringue, covered with whipped cream and fresh fruit. It’s the favourite dessert in this home during the festive season, or actually, any season. None of my lads will hesitate when pav is on the table.

With a Lactose Intolerant person in the house, we were so pleased when lactose free thickened cream became available. Deconstructed pavlova is just not quite the same. Now we can all enjoy it again.

Here are 2 links for a pavlova recipe. It’s pretty quick and easy to whip up but takes a while in the oven.
