Queensland Trip July 2024
It seems to be a year of travel, and part of this was affectionately known as the Queensland trip, in July 2024.

So far this year I have been to the Great Ocean Road on a Girls Week Away, our family had a week in India for our son’s wedding, and then I travelled on from there to the USA to teach on a Transatlantic cruise to London. Blog post about those coming soon.
The end of June, beginning of July saw me drive up to Queensland with our 2 younger sons for a course they were doing with Boys Brigade. This trip had multiple advantages, and a few diadvantages.
Travel pros and cons
The advantages are that my youngest son could add more driving hours to his tally, seeing as Australia for the most part requires at least 100 driving hours before Learner drivers can attempt the P plate test. Our son could visit with a friend on the way back for a day, and we could also see some friends during a stopover on the way up and back, plus I could stay with my parents and catch up with them whilst the boys were on course. My husband flew up to join me and we could visit family in Brisbane and then both of us could attend the course grad ceremony.
The disadvantages were that it is a long drive, over 2 days we spent at least 14hrs driving. Then we had the long 2 day drive home again and in a smaller car, makes for cosy travelling. The area we travelled through had inconsistent connectivity so doing any computer based work was pretty much not possible.
We were away for almost 2 weeks and I really was keen to be back in my own bed after this time. There is something about being home again, that makes you value what you have. We loved visiting and seeing everyone, but that first sleep at home is just great.
Part of my time away was spent writing up some patterns to complete some that we have in prgress. I will be releasing those as they are fully completed. You’ll hear about them in the Snippets News or here on the blog.

Mum and I looked through her yarn stash and all her gorgeous projects. I did relieve her of one of them as I needed a project to do in the car and also for those times you want to be creative but not have to think too much. It’s a long term project but will be gorgeous and bright when completed.
A gift
I decided at the last minute to make a fabric bag to hold the yarn I had bought. The yarn was initially the gift but a cute bag to hold the project is always a lovely addition right?!
Queen Mary Falls
Our family drove to Queen Mary Falls which was flowing beautifully. The scenery was gorgeous, and the temperature was quite cool. Despite being Queensland it was not always sunny or warm. Queen Mary Falls are located near Killarney in SE Qld.

Are you wondering what Boys Brigade is? It has similarities to Scouts and includes the Christian faith. Fun fact, Boys Brigade is older than Scouts, and there is also Girls Brigade.
I hope you enjoy this quick non quilty view of our trip
