Sewcial Retreats 2026 events are live!

We are very excited to be able to share our 2026 retreat events are live in the shop. We have 2 events, March and September, we hope you can join us for one of them, or both if that’s your wish.

What is Sewcial Retreats?

We are part of Sunflower Stitcheries and Quilting we aim to host a crafting retreat where you can enjoy delving deeper into your projects whilst being surrounded by crafting friends. It is about community, enjoying your crafts, making progress on your projects and meeting other craft minded potential friends.

When is the next Sewcial Retreats events in 2026

We have reviewed the feedback from our previous attendees. Thank you all for sharing your thoughts. Our goal is to make our retreats as wonderful and supportive as we can, and we have learned a few things which will make future retreats better for all. We continue to improve our events as we are able.

Our next retreats are March 13-15 and September 18-20 2026

What is the cost and what is included?

To attend retreat the fee is $440 early bird rate, or $460 if outside the early booking time. This allows you to attend the 2 1/2 days of the retreat, your morning and afternoon tea, lunch and dinner. You will have room to set up your machine, design walls will be available, pressing stations, cutting tables and help if desired if you are a little stuck on a project.

what are the timings?

The room will be available from 12pm on Friday to allow for a full afternoon and evening to get your projects sorted and ready to sew and create.

8.30am starts and 10pm (ish) finishes each evening, with a 4pm finish on the Sunday to make the most of the time you are away. Because we are here to escape to create!

How do I sign up for the retreat?

Please purchase your retreat ticket here. Your ticket is confirmed when payment has been processed.

Early bird rate is required to be paid in full at time of purchase. Use this link for booking for this option for March 2026.

What if I can’t attend both days?

We understand that there are times when a whole weekend crafting will be hard to orchestrate. We have also released day tickets as well. there are options to choose a day in the retreat listing.

Where are the Sewcial Retreats 2026 event being held?

We are once again headed a little out of Canberra region to The Carrington Inn at Bungendore. You can visit their website here.

We were happy to see good natural light, we will have extra lighting for evening, a large open room, gorgeous grounds to wander in. We stayed at The Carrington Inn in 2025 and the rooms are very confortable. We slept really well. An onsite chef to make our meals and look after our refuelling to get all the crafting achieved.

Can I bring my sewing machine?

Yes, you definitely can, we are looking forward to a couple of days of major crafting progress for your projects.

We will have power set up for you, and a trolley to help transport in machines and other items if you need assistance.

We will have some irons available, so no need to bring one.

where could you stay?

The Carrington Inn is offering a discount for retreatees who book to stay, please mention that you are coming for the Sewcial Retreats event when you call to book. 

We suggest booking as early as possible if you think you would like to stay. Keeping in mind that there are events on in the area that will mean accomodation books up quickly.

Your accomodation is entirely your choice, there are a number of options in the Bungendore area as well. You can also opt to sleep at home if you prefer, just be safe with the extra driving please. There is also the option to come with a friend and share a room.

We are looking forward to being away and surrounded by wonderful creative people and so we will be staying at The Carrington Inn.

Are food & drinks included in the fee?

Tea and coffee are included and available all day. Morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner are included in your retreat fee, you will be responsible for your own breakfasts. Rooms at The Carrington Inn have a kettle and small fridge and minimal crockery.  There are numerous cafes nearby. Dinner is included on Friday & Saturday evenings.

When do we receive confirmation of our place on retreat?

You will receive an automated email confirmation at the time your retreat purchase is processed. Please check your junk/spam folder if this doesn’t appear soon after purchase. If you are booking a number of tickets, the purchaser only will receive a confirmation email when the purchase is processed. About 1 month before the retreat, watch for an email filled with details about the retreat, timings and any other news we need to share.

The tough stuff, the cancellation policy, terms and conditions of booking?

• Sunflower Stitcheries and Quilting does not accept responsibility for changes in personal circumstances of retreat attendees. Please consider the dates carefully.
• If you must cancel, please note that more than 45 days prior to the start of the retreat your refund will be ticket price less a $25 administration fee.
• If you must cancel less than 45 days prior to the start of the retreat – we are sorry but we are unable to process a refund unless we can fill your place. If we can fill your place, your refund will be your ticket price less a $25 administration fee.
• If you find you are unable to attend but you have a friend who wishes to take your place please contact us via email to enable this exchange.
• Sunflower Stitcheries and Quilting reserves the right not to accept a booking/purchase. This event is created for our retail clients and customers. Promotion of other businesses is at the discretion of Sunflower Stitcheries and Quilting and by invitation. A business owner may certainly attend as a retreatee, unless invited otherwise by Sunflower Stitcheries and Quilting.

We’ve chosen a few useful items for retreat that you might like. We have also tested the quality and are happy to now release the products for you to choose. Retreat merch is entirely optional but certainly a bit of fun!
