I have a solution… this yoked circular skirt
This pattern was worked out when a friend asked me about making a skirt to wear to a wedding and she had some fabric in mind.
We wanted to have the fullness of the circular skirt but by putting it on a yoke we have lowered the fullness of the skirt away from the tummy area. If the yoke fabric is the same as the skirt then even if the seam is seen it doesn’t matter. The bonus is the swishy fullness of the skirt.
I’ve made this skirt a few times now in dressmaking cotton or even patchwork cotton, the next plan is to make one in a heavier weight for winter.
The fabric I have used in the pattern is from the ‘Taking Flight’ range released in March 2018 by Amanda Brandl Designs. Amanda is an Australian surface designer and her ranges feature Australian flora and fauna. There is a table top quilt pattern also featuring Amanda’s fabric range available.
