After working running stitch, use a contrasting colour and a blunt needle and weave the thread from one side to the other. Be careful not to catch any fabric when weaving.
This stitch can be worked in the same or contrasting thread colours. This does create an area that may catch on things so use this stitch wisely so your project is not harmed by a caught thread.
