2021 Monthly Color Challenge – November

november-logo-graphic

What is this year long plan?

The 2021 Monthly Color Challenge is in it’s fourth year, and I am excited to join in. This year we’re getting our inspiration from Fruits and Veggies.

Each month there is a change in colour and a new block. You can see all the colours to come this year at this post on Jen’s blog. Jen also shares all the info on what you need and you can choose to sign up to receive the block sent straight to your inbox.

My block for november

Here’s my block for November, the colour for this month is Blue for Blueberries.

I have planned a consistent background of the dark charcoal grey and will be adding the feature colour color. There are a plethora of scraps in my studio so I have vowed to sew from them if I possibly can. However this month I did need to cut into some yardage, as this colour doesn’t feature much in my regular fabric choices.

I have been trying to add in the fruit or veg in the pics with the blocks and had to grab these from the fridge before the lads consumed them all. They do not last long in this home.

So, if you are keen to sew along with us this year, there’s a layout design for you at the end of the year, head over to Jen’s blog and join in. The blocks are free for the release month, and you can have them sent to your inbox.

Oh and each block comes with a How To video right in the instructions. That’s pretty handy.

My Tip to you.

Use your iron and keep your seam allowances even all the way through. This will help keep your seams matching nicely. Consider pressing seams in opposite directions so you can nest the rows or blocks for a great finish.

Recipe fun…

Blueberries are a huge hit in our house, the lads here strongly encourage purchasing of punnets of blueberries when they are in season. To help offset this we have 6 developing blueberry bushes in our garden. We are keen for when they are bigger and producing more.

Recipe wise, I am unable to help. They just get eaten here too fast. I would probably make a pie though if I had extra at any time, sweet pastry crust with a crisp sugary top, yum, or maybe just sweet pastry with fresh berries, and some cream. Actually lets go simple, ice cream with fresh blueberries. Now we’re talking!

Want to join in? It’s not too late.

  1. Hello! I love your block for November. The consistent use of the dark gray charcoal – ooh-la-la. It’s so nice and rich and it really lets the monthly color shine and sparkle. Ooh – six blueberry bushes!! I’ll bet those keep you busy both picking and keeping the birds at bay. I can’t wait to see your quilt top come together with all these wonderful blocks. ~smile~ Roseanne
