Quilting finish #1

This is Quilting Finish #1 of a new goal to share with you all the quilts I quilt this year and how they are quilted. Sometimes I may not be able to share the whole quilt so there may be me talking about it and not as many pictures.

This quilt is by Carol and her quilt is for a small person sized Half Square Triangle fiesta with great colours combined with white. I’m going to guess that some of these are smaller pieces being utilised as a couple of the blocks have different fabric in the corners. I know Carol’s scrap bucket multiplies, she makes the most of all her fabric.

Notes From the maker herself:

I made it from leftovers from the other baby quilt I made late last year. Those blocks were 9in half snowball blocks. That pattern was a freebie called Fat Quarter Fancy from http://sewcanshe.com (lots and lots of freebie patterns on this site – she’s a very generous lady). I double sewed each corner to give me an extra HST already sewn. I ended up with 8 hst’s from most blocks and I didn’t use fq’s for the original quilt. That’s why some blocks in this baby quilt had more than 1 fabric. I just used what I had. So this little quilt was almost a freebie (except for the sashings).

The sashing is also a white tone on tone and the setting squares are a cute giraffe print. You may find something similar here.

The thread we chose to quilt this is a Rasant thread in white, so it stays fresh.

The pantograph we decided on is called Bird Bath. The design is a meandering style with a stylised bird nestled within, see what I did there!

The quilt backing fabric is a cream with a white flower pattern.

Binding is not known at this stage. Often the binding isn’t a part of the quilt I get to see. (We have a binding tutorial that you can find here)
